Cannabis has been used for more than 5,000 years to relieve acute and chronic pain symptoms because of its ability to relieve pain with minimal side effects - especially compared to stronger pharmaceutical painkillers that can lead to addiction and long-term physical harm.<\/p>\n\n

Chronic pain<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Chronic pain is pain that lasts even after the underlying cause of the illness or injury has disappeared or when the cause cannot be eliminated. It can go on and on for a long time.<\/p>\n

According to the scientific definition, chronic pain is one that lasts for more than three months. The time limit that would separate chronic pain from acute is arbitrarily determined. Some scientists advocate a longer duration so that we can talk about chronic pain, at least 12 months. Chronic pain has no biological protective role and should therefore not be understood as a symptom but as a disease.<\/p>\n

Chronic pain is an economic, social and societal problem. It is estimated that its prevalence in different parts of the world ranges from 10% to 55%. According to the literature, its overall prevalence in Europe is 35%.<\/p>\n

There are different approaches to the treatment of chronic pain: pharmacological treatment (with drugs), physical medicine, behavioral medicine, neuromodulation, interventional approaches and surgical approaches.
