About cannabinoids<\/h2>\n\n

Cannabinoids are a major group of compounds which are present in cannabis. They are a heterogeneous group of compounds whose common feature is that they can bind to cannabinoid receptors in our body. They are basically divided into three groups according to their origin (endocannabinoids, phytocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids).<\/p>\n\n

Endocannabinoids are produced in the body, phytocannabinoids are produced in plants, and synthetic cannabinoids are synthesized in the laboratory.<\/p>\n\n

Endocannabinoids are human's own cannabinoids which are produced by our body in nerve cells. They serve as signaling molecules. Our cells contain cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), which detect the amount and concentration of cannabinoids in the cells. Our brains also detect changes in the concentration of cannabinoids in our body and consequently respond accordingly.<\/p>\n\n

Phytocannabinoids, as the name suggests, are of plant origin and are chemically similar to endocannabinoids. They activate the same receptors (CB1 and CB2) in our body as endocannabinoids. More than 140 cannabinoids are already discovered, among phytocannabinoids CBD and THC are currently the most researched. The latest research includes other cannabinoids (CBN, CBC, CBG, etc.), as well.<\/p>\n\n

Synthetic cannabinoids are prepared by chemical synthesis in the laboratory and are present in the vast majority of pharmaceutical preparations. Research has shown that they are significantly less effective than natural forms of cannabinoids, most likely due to sinergistic effect which is obtained within natural cannabinoids and terpenes.<\/p>\n\n

Cannabinoids are divided into several groups, and a large number of different cannabinoids are found within the groups.<\/p>\n\n

Most cannabinoids have no psychoactive effects, they have a positive effect on our body and immune system. Cannabinoids in combination with terpenes act synergistically, thus increasing their \"entourage effect\". The best known and researched are cannabinoids cannabinol (CBD), which is not psychoactive, and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is one of the few cannabinoids with a psychoactive effect. More and more research is focused on exploring the synergistic effects of cannabinoids and terpenes.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Cannabinoids in nature<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Cannabis is a unique plant on earth in which cannabinoids are formed, but they are also found in some other plants that are known to have a beneficial effect on our body and well-being. Cannabinoids in smaller concentrations are found in American strawberry, Brazilian cress, strawflower and some others.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Because they are formed in the plant, we call them phytocannabinoids<\/strong><\/em>. In plants, phytocannabinoids are mainly found in acid form. Endocannabinoids are formed in our body and are in non-acid form (active form). Plant phytocannabinoids are converted to non-acidic \/ active cannabinoids by the decarboxylation process.<\/p>\n

The world's best known cannabinoid, CBD - cannabidiol, as well as other cannabinoids, are found in cannabis in acid form (CBDA, THCA, CBGA, etc.), and to a lesser extent cannabinoids are also present in non-acidic \/ active form (CBD, CBG, THC, etc).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
